WELCOME TO CHESTER SINFONIA

We are a group of enthusiastic amateur musicians who meet once a fortnight in Chester.

Our conductor is Helen Thomas and rehearsals are held at St Thomas of Canterbury Church Hall, Parkgate Road, Chester, CH1 4AG, on alternate Friday evenings from 7.00 to 9.30 pm with a short break. Our repertoire consists of symphonies and other works which are suitable for a small orchestra.

We would love to have more string players and also a second bassoon. There is no audition, just come along and give it a go! We do not aim to give formal concerts but may perform occasionally for charity or friends and family.

We have raised money in the past to send instruments to Baghdad School of Music, which was very successful.

We ask members to provide their own music which can easily be downloaded free of charge from IMSLP. The charge per session is £3. Our venue in Chester is easily accessible by car and has good parking.

Repertoire for Friday 30th November is as follows:

1) Beethoven 12 Contra Dances WoO 14 nos. 1-12

2) Mendelssohn Nocturne from A Midsummer Night's Dream

3) Beethoven Symphony no. 7, 1st and2nd movements

4) Mozart Overture to Il Seraglio

5) Faure Pavanne
